At BIOLID we treat sustainability as a lever for competitiveness: 40% of our energy comes from solar self-consumption, we are cutting paper waste volume by up to 80% and we develop compostable labels adapted to the new European PPWR regulation. The most sustainable label is the one that is done right the first time.

Solar plant · 2026

225.74 kWp of solar self-consumption with batteries.

520 panels on an industrial rooftop covering approximately 40% of the plant's electricity consumption, with an estimated annual output of 232,000 kWh and 38 tonnes of CO₂ avoided every year. An investment of more than 200,000 euros, and one of the largest industrial energy projects in Bizkaia. The rest of the energy we consume is 100% renewable with a Guarantee of Origin (GoO).

Paper waste · 2024 — 2027

Less waste, and better managed.

Paper is our main waste stream. With an investment of around 220,000 euros (2024–2027 plan), the automated extraction and compaction system will cut its volume by between 70% and 80% and raise the plant's overall productivity by between 8% and 10%, by removing stoppages, handling and internal movements. Plant digitalisation and AI (AXON) optimise work in progress and reduce incidents, with less material waste. In all, more than 420,000 euros invested in sustainability, energy efficiency and the circular economy.

Sustainable labels: FSC®, recyclable and eco substrates.

Sustainability is not only about our plant: it is also in the product. We manufacture sustainable labels on FSC®-certified paper (Mix and Recycled), recycled and recyclable materials and responsible adhesives, and we print with solar self-consumption and 100% renewable energy. We help you choose the substrate that best fits your packaging's recycling stream.

FSC® Mix and Recycled paper

Paper sourced from responsible forest management, with an FSC® chain of custody. The most widely used base for a sustainable label.

Recycled papers

Substrates made with post-consumer recycled fibre to reduce the use of virgin fibre.

Recyclable films

Recyclable or recycled-origin polypropylene and polyester for packaging that allows it.

Wash-off adhesives

Removable or water-soluble adhesives that make recycling of returnable packaging easier.

UV-LED inks

Lower-consumption printing systems with fewer emissions than conventional processes.

Eco-design and the PPWR regulation

Solutions aligned with the forthcoming European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) ahead of 2028: we are getting ahead of the European framework.

Compostable labels
